At the end of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, Pope Francis established the World Day of the Poor in his Apostolic Letter Misericordia et Misera (issued on November 20, 2016). It has been celebrated annually on the Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time since 2017. In 2024, it is celebrated on November 17th.
